Class IV Laser Therapy

Class IV Laser Therapy is used for the relief of pain, to accelerate healing and decrease inflammation. When the light source is placed against the skin, the photons penetrate several centimeters and get absorbed by the mitochondria (the energy producing part of a cell). This energy fuels the natural positive- processes of the cell. The goal of laser therapy is to stimulate the cell to promote the natural functions of the cell including repair, at an accelerated rate.

Unlike “cold laser” which provide no felling or sensation, high power class IV laser will provide warm and soothing feeling.

Class IV Laser is:

  • Anti-inflammatory- reduces inflammation and activates lymphatic drainage.
  • Anti-pain (analgesic)- blocks transmission of pain messages from nerve cells to the brain which decreases nerve sensitivity and pain.
  • Accelerated tissue repair and cell growth- light from lasers penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth.
  • Improved vascular activity- laser light will significantly increase Angiogenesis, the formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue which speeds up the healing process, closes wounds quickly and reduces scar tissue.
  • Trigger Points and Acupuncture Points-Laser therapy stimulates muscle trigger points and acupuncture points on a non-invasive basis providing musculoskeletal pain relief.
